oil pan removal 56 effie

I noticed the oil pan bolt was replaced on my pan with this oversize, I don't know what to call it. No one has the plug and it looks like the pan was welded before. Anyways, I purchased a new pan (chrome Motorsport) which was easier than finding a new plug, and bought a one piece gasket from Fel Pro. Before I undertake this adventure, I was wondering if anyone has replaced their pans and what do I need to be aware of to make the job go smooth. Any advice and recommendations would be great. Thanks guys.

I have a 302, and if its similar there is quite a bit of room to get it out and in again. I did use the one piece gasket, I think, if I remember right, that I attached it to the block side with some sealer, working the ends (rounded parts, cant remember the name) in carefully. Then slid the pan in place and bolted right in. It took some time to get it in place.
