alright, im working on lowering my 52'f2 and there the bolt that runs through the middle of the whole stack. on the front it came of with easy... on the rear its spinning.... is there a trick to it? i mean it has a nut on one end and just round on the other so i cant figure out how to get it off. any tips would be great!
I would just cut or grind it off and then replace it. If you can't get a replacement bolt from your local spring shop just grind down the head of a regular hex bolt to fit. That bolt just helps locate the spring pack on the perch and helps hold them together.
The reason its round on one end is its the "pin" for the locator hole. Be sure to put heavy "C" clamps on each side of the bolt before you cut it. It could "spring" apart. Couldn't get Vise Grips on the round part??
Lower the rear end housing so it clears the round part your talking about. Bottom of the stud. Get a pair of Vise Grips and clamp it to the bottom of the bolt. It will prevent it from spinning. Put some penetrating oil on the top bolt with the nut. Then use a wrench or impact gun and it'll come off. I replaced my bolts with stainless steel allen bolts. They you can use an allen wrench to hold and tighten the bolt and nut. Works out nice. Good luck.
well i wrote this while attempting it at 11:30pm in the cold and couldnt find vise grips i had laying around somewhere... but i like the idea of the allen wrench... ashame the didnt to it like the before!!! but i will give it a shot tomarrow problay... its just hard when your working on 5 diffrent things on your truck at once
