Smile What Motor is it?

Here's a pretty light-weight question: I have a 53 F-100 with a 215-six that I've been working on in an attempt at a stock renovation. I've got all the catalogs from the various vendors that sell stuff for these trucks. I'm hoping that Santa puts a Valve Cover decal in my stocking this Christmas. But, should I tell him I want a "Mileage Maker 6" decal or a "Cost Clipper 6" decal? The vendors listings seem to suggest that they are both appropriate for this motor.

Merry Christmas everybody , jvmcc

Steve Statham's book on Ford Pickups states: "The 215ci "Cost Clipper" six introduced in 1952 carried over into 1953 with no changes."

That's my best guess.

My research backs up what mtflat said. I have a few vintage '53 ads on my History Page that refer to the 215 as the Cost Clipper. I also had the picture below in my archives. Appears to be an original engine:

Hope this helps!

I've seen the 223 written up as the Milage Maker.

Kevin, thanks. It had not occurred to me that the next question which would be raised (but I'd be too embarrassed to ask in this forum) is "how is the decal oriented on the cover?" Your photo answers that.

Merry Christmas, jvmcc
