Cab mounts are different on 1962 unibody
I just found out something I wish I had known before building my own cab mounts using the designs found on this forum. I downloaded the web page and took the time to measure twice and cut once. What I didn't realize is that the cab mounts on the passenger's side is different than the one on the drivers side. Soooo, not realizing this and of course I didn't think to measure because I assumed (yeah I know) that they were mirror images of each other, I build them the same or ratther mirror images of each other( which went very well by the way, although mine do not look nearly as good as the one built on the web site). Any way, I now have the the pleasure of cutting off about 3 inches for the passenger's side mount and rewelding it (I need the practice welding anyway). I guess I should be glad that the one on the passenger's side is shorter not longer . I will post some pictures as soon a I get back to fixing my slight error.

RedF100,
Ouch. . . . Sorry to read what happened!
The sticky at the top was to let everybody know there were/ are differences betwixt the earlier style frames 57-64 with the single I beam Axle, and the later frames, 65-79 with the twin I beam axleS.
This is so because front, frame kick, angle is different since early has a semi eliptical, front, spring, rear shackle, plus an earlier style steering gear box mounted there while later frame has a radius arm and intermediated X member brackets as well as a very different type steering box mounted on its' driver side frame kick.
Thus not only cab mounts, suspension and steering gear, but the entire nose/clip sheet metal is different than it's other style [early vs later] model. Altho the exterior appearance is quite the same, the structure and superstructure are quite different.
I realized this was a "Pitfall" many were not aware of when I resurrected the link to the page that contained the photos of this info. Since then the webmaster has pulled down that page & put up another topic.
I'm sorry to hear what happened to you because I was trying to prevent just that.
I guess I will have to "write" my own piece or tech article on this subject. FWIW, it has nothing to do with being an integral bed/"uni" style pick up body. It's strictly production year, or year model thing. . .
Having said all that, I see you realized your analysis was a bit light when you made the "presumption" both sides were equal. It's presence of early style steering gear box that causes the different location of L/H mount.
I hope it is not too much of a hassle to remedy. . . .
