re-flipping rear axle on a 96 ranger

Sounds like a chevy guy owned the truck before you.
Yea you just unbolt the driveshaft and the u-bolts from the leafs, then pull the axle too one side and then lift it over and push it back under the leafs and same with other side then just bolts the u-bolts back the other direction, the bolt the driveshaft back on.
Don't flip the axle then you will have oil problems not too mention the fact that your truck will drive backwards. It's very straight forward.

Your Ranger was lowered I'm assuming. You had a flip kit in it. Bronco's right. Remove u-bolts, take the adapter plates out (that kept the rear end from slipping), move the diff under the leaf springs, line up the retaining pins to the plates on the leaf springs and re-install u bolts. Easy job. Or.....keep it low.
