Lariat wheels on STX

I just picked up a set of Lariat 18'' Rims with Long Trail Goodrich 265-60-18 Tires. They have less than a thousand miles on them, so for 300 bucks with caps and lug nuts I decided what the heck.
I have the STX painted gray aluminums with 255-65-17 Michelins on the truck. Better brand, but worse looking wheels.

So has anyone ever done that swap? And did it make much differance to handleing, gearing?

The specs at Tire Rack say the Lariat tires are 1'' shorter than the STX tires. 29 VS 30. The specs also say the tires are .8 inch narrower. But looking at them, and using a tape, The Long Trails look taller and wider. Haven't put them on yet, gotta make a road trip to Vegas for two days, so haven't set the tires side by side. Any imput on what to expect would be nice,
Thanks
Chris

The 18s will be .4 inches taller and just a bit wider.

Your speedo will be off by 1.6% and will read too slow. At 60mph you actually be travelling 60.9mph.

Those are nice wheels. I've ben wanting a set for my 03 Expedition. Shipping to Hawaii kills the idea...

Thanks Ken, appreciate the input. I think the Tire Rack has some confused info, where did you get your obviously more accurate specs?
on the speedo reading, my speedo reads 5% high now. A little lower would help.

Hi, I'll check it out. Just got back from Las Vegas, 460 miles in 24 hours. Nice jaunt, still haven't changed the tires over.
Thanks again

Handy link. My only problem with it is that tires from different brands/companys and different tread patterns vary more than the margin of difference Still a great little tool.
Thanks again

Thanks Monsta
Swapped the tires, but haven't had time to drive it. Dirty stuff on the tires, some kind of sealer that rubs off. I guess I'll have to wash the tires before taking pictures. Rims look great on the STX.

Works great, darn close. I found .25 inch difference than the tire finder reported.
I recommend it to anyone wanting to compare tires sizes.
Thanks again Monsta

I swapped for Lariat wheels and put them on my XLT. I went from 17" to 18" and so far I am very happy with them.

Hi Jiffyjam. Nice looking truck. Adding a picture of mine with the new wheels to my gallery. I had the STX silver mags. They look good, but I wanted the 18'' rims. Plus I really like the Lariet wheels.
I hated to give up my Michelins, but in the ten miles or so I have driven it, the BFG Long Trails seem OK.
These trucks do look better with big rims.
Posting a quick pic in my gallery. Don't have a lot of luck posting in the forum.

Just curious, any way to get you to weigh one of the tire/rims. That is, if they are 265/60 18 long trails. Trying to find the weight without pulling one off. (my health aint what it was).
The 255-65-17's weigh 58 lbs
275-65-18 rugged trails weigh 72 on FX4 rims.

sure hoping to find the weight on the Lariet Long Trails.

Also, how many miles on your tires/rims, How much are you looking for? Several people have asked me what I paid.

Chris
