Smile What seats would fit, I need one for christmas

My dad's truck is a 1997 f350 xl standard cab. The truck is actually a catering truck and he has to spend several hours a day in that thing, but the problem is the seat is getting worn out. He has to put a pillow on the seat to soften it and to give him the extra boost that was lost from the cushoning wearing out. He has bean needing this for almost a year now and I want to help.

So I quess my question is, does anyone Know what years would be able to just drop right in, because we only have a weekend or so to do the switch.

I whant to know what years would fit for both the standard bench, a split bench (or something with the armrest), and also what is involved in switching the truck to buckets (if possible and logical).

1 last guestion, if anyone knows of a good seat for sale (preferably a grayish blue) please let me Know I am a teenager and don't have alot of money, but if a good seat is found for a reasonable price I will pay for shipping and everything. I live in Dekalb Illinois (west of chicago illinois) and my area code is 60115.

also if anyone knows of a forum where I could get some more good responses, I would like to know. (The more the merier)

I thank everyone, and look forword to your input.

Seats from 87-96 should fit. If you want to swap to buckets, make sure you get the inside track for both seats, holes should be predrilled. If you can find a seat in good condition it would not take more than an hour to swap. You also may want to talk to an upholstry shop, find out if they could do over the weekend and what the cost would be. Shipping something as big as seats isn't cheap.

If I am not mistaken, the 97 and up trucks use a different style track than the 87 to 96. The placement of holes was changed slightly to go along with the new floor pan. So you would have to reuse the tracks from the current seat on the "new" seat.

I thought the F250/350 bodies didn't change until 98

Yep, just checked the galleries and a 97 f350 has the same body as a 87-96 F150.

Sorry, got my years off a little, you should be good with an 87-96 bench then.

Darn, I was hoping that the seat was used in the newer ones so I could find one with not much use.

You should be able to pick one up for cheap, check junkyards for new inventory, I don't know how a seat from a truck that has been sitting there for a while would be, I assume not very good. If someone disagrees with me on this, go on and say so, I could be wrong on this. Otherwise you may have to turn to a truck specialty shop or order one, if you're not able to find a swap.

Mr. Finch,

I know it's after xmas but if Santa didn't deliver a new seat you might try a having the seat restuffed by a upholstery shop. I had it done on my 94 Ranger for about $125. I thought it was a bit pricey but they did a good job.
