Thumbs up 89 F150 Toggle switch on dash panel?????

Hey folks, just acquired my 89 F150 ....IGNition sw.RED/ blue wire disconnected from solenoid ST pin?????. Truck has an added toggle switch on the dash that has a hot wire from solenoid "ST" pin to energize the ignition switch RED-blue wire without going through any safety switches like the park/neutral switch on the tranny. It won't crank unless toggle sw is on to energize the RED/bl wire.
I want to return to original. The Haynes leaves me confused on how the Tranny sw works. Can somebody lead me toward the light.????.....Thanks.......R7

"Gear select" or "neutral start" switch? Help !!!!

Will not crank normally through the solenoid switch. My 89 F150 has an inline 6 but I don"t know what tranny (3 speed auto).Door tag says "K". Anyway, I am getting no power out of the neutral start switch(Haynes calls it gear select switch). The switch must be internal because I see nothing on the tranny but the connector next to the speedometer cable. Can this switch go bad internally?. I need some help ,guys!!!

AOD Has an Internal Neutral Safety Switch?????

thanks Creet. I traced the wire back and it was an add-on straight to the "s" lug on the solenoid to bypass an open circuit situation in the neutral safety switch. I think I have an AOD with just a 4pin connector to an internal NSS and I have power going in but none coming out . I have Shifted through all gears while monitoring the voltmeter and the switch never makes up. Can I do anything to R & R the Neutral Safety switch or am I barking up the wrong Tranny??? I would like to return to original without the add-on toggle.

The wire coming out of the NSS to the starter solonoid is shown on my diagram as a red wire with a light blue stripe. It will only show power when the key is in the start position and the switch is either in park or neutral.

Thanks, EPNCSU2006......
I have gotten this far, my Haynes manual shows RED/blue striped wire from ignition sw. going to NSS and then the same RED/bl coming out of sw and going to starter solenoid "S" terminal and distributor.

Here is my problem!...... There is a 4 wire connector to the NSS..... only 4 pins with 1.a RED/bl wire 2. BLACK/pink (for backup lites) 3. PURPLE/orange (for directional flasher) 4. WHITE/red (electric shift control module????....I assume this is a 4x4 item). This WHITE/red wire turns to RED/ with a blue slash......at the first harness connector on the firewall.

The ignition sw RED/bl is hot on "start" going to the tranny!!

I'll have to look over the wiring diagram when I get back home...I'll see what I can find out.
