Ford or Lincoln C6

Is there any difference between a Automatic Ford C6 and a Lincoln C6 transmission?

A few models of Lincoln had an extra long output shaft and extension housing. Internals are the same. Linkage may be different.

The C6 internals WILL vary depending upon motor and application. Big engines and trucks run higher pressure as well as a bigger clutch pack.

So for instance a 351W in a car and one in a E350 for instance will be different internally. However it is all bolt in parts and many car trannys got upgraded during a rebuild.

A Lincoln 460/C6 will shift softer than one out of a truck.

You'd have to make external modifications to get that to work. The 360 and 460 have different bellhousing bolt patterns. You need a big block tranny case (or just get the whole tranny) to mate up to the 460.

So If I got a new tranny case, would all the internals fit or would I have to change the torque converter, etc?

You might want to look into your options before you decide to swap internals between transmission cases. Now 460 C6 transmissions are pretty common and are easy to find, and you can usually get them for a reasonable price. Now take your 360 C6, I would think that this is a transmission that is getting harder and harder to find over the years. So depending on the condition of your current transmission, you might be able to make a trade with someone if you really want to go to a 460 C6. Or see if you can core it in for the one you want. The list goes on and on. It makes me kind of wish I didn't get rid of all those 460 C6's I had. I think I had 3 spares at one time. 2 I junked and the third was sacrificed to save a 4X4 transmission with a broken case. Its funny cause I now have an FMX and I cant even give that thing away.
