3.92 Front axle What is rear axle ratio ??
I have a 63 F-100 4X4 and the rear end took a dump (pinnion gear I think) and I need to find an replacement !! I can't find a tag on the rear end at all but the front end tag reads exactly:
C3TA-F
2559-3 1-63 3.92
I know 3.92 is the ratio but not sure how to find the rear end ratio ??
Here is everything off of the plate on the door also :
F11CR373497
120 T F112 81B F 12A
5600 135 3800 742095
Awhile back I had someone tell me that the rear gears were 3.89 but I didn't think that was right because I know they have to match !!
Please help me !!

The gears front and rear do not have to match, but they do have to be fairly close. A 3.89 is not unreasonable. The question is does someone still manufacture them.
Does someone have a door plate translator for a truck that old? See if you can find some casting numbers on the axle. I'd think one of the plate numbers is the axle code, of course that's assuming Ford di it that way in 1963.

Pull the rear and count the teeth.
Currie shows 3.89s. I thought Ford offered 3.91s.
