Idle Question

Hey guys was just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem. I have a 97 ranger 2.3L std trans and just finished replacing plugs and wires. It runs good but Ive noticed now that when you rev the engine up and let off the gas the engine idles down real low almost dieing then goes back up to around 700 rpm about where it should be. I do not recall it doing this before.

Welcome to FTE!
Disconnect the battery for 20 minutes. Re-connect & start the truck & ONLY let it idle, don't touch the gas, for 5 minutes. This way it will re-learn the idle.
Open up the air intake tube & inspect the throttle plate & bore for "dirt", gum, carbon build-up. Clean it up with aerosol carb cleaner.

If that does'nt fix it, go buy an I.A.C. (idle air control valve) at Auto Zone. Will clear it right up!
