I had it on my last Z71, it is awesome. Having it run for a few minutes with the A/C before I get in is a win win situation. The engine gets all lubed up real good before I get on it and the a/c cools down the truck. I'm looking for the best one to put on my new 04 PSD.

I've had remote start about two months and like it alot. Its handy to get in a truck with a heated engine and just go. Before there were only a couple of options, go out early and start it and sit to wait for the engine to warm or go out and start it let it run while you sit in the house hoping someone else don't drive off with it. Thinking of getting one for my wifes car.

Question about remote starters.

It seems to me, that, it is a "bad thing" to start a vehicle with the air conditiong on. Is this true? I would like to have a remote starter to help warm up the cab and/or cool it off as needed. How does it work? Do you have to leave the air on? I have always turned off the heater or air conditioner before turning off the engine.

Thanks.

I have always just shut the key off on all my vehicles. I always laughed at and never understood why people worried about shutting the radio, wipers, and heat/ac off. It can't be bad, I know more people that just turn off than people that shut everything down first. I believe that most ignithion switches don't allow power to accessories while in the cranking position anyway.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the remote start I had installed in my wifes car for christmas last year. I was really not too happy to shell out all that money, but I knew we'd get good use out of it. We now have a 16 month old foster child that we are trying to adopt and I feel much better putting her into a warm vehicle. I can't wait to get one put in my truck!

Are all the remote starts installed at the dealership...meaning they do not come from the factory installed.

Anyone have the Code Alarm ( CA-535495PK )? If so, how do you like it on the 6.0 PSD?

I'll chime in here even though I run 7.3's. Had a "Crimestopper" system install just last Wednesday on my 03 and it works great. Very good range...can be inside a metal building at work and start it about 25 mins before I want to leave and it's nice and toasty warm when I get in it. Thinking about putting another one on the 02

Most places like best buy and circut city install remote starters. As well as aftermarket automotive stores.

Smile

had a factory installed remote start and is one of the best mods done. It has unbeliveable range, and also is great for the turbo cool down part also. Was a bit pricy but great. Had it installed at the dealer for about 320.

Tim, I believe most dealers refer this work out to a trained installation shop. I think by doing this it'll be warranted by Ford. Or least warranty work on the vehicle won't be denied due to the remote start.

My remote starter is made by avital. once in a while it wo'nt start on the first try, but the system will retry a second time and it has always worked.
Very nice in Las Vegas to have the cab sooled down.
