Ok. Found out its a
model 4150
780 cfm
I dont have the money for a new carb so im going to rebuild this one with smaller jets, ect,
for a 351M with a mild Edelbrock cam, what size jets would someone recommend to use? And any other ideas to help? Please let me know asap b/c winter's coming fast.
That's an old carb, but a good one. It was originally designed fotr the 66 vette with a 425hp 396. I think that it came with somewhere around a 72 jet in the front. I'm not sure about the rear.
Have you run it on there yet? What mods, if any, have been done to the engine?
What is the vacuum at an idle. It should be close enough to run to get a feel for what it needs. Just make sure that the power valve is good. It should be a #65.
primary power valve (12,13)
(12)125-85 secondary
(13)125-105 primary
The truck is a 79 ford
Automatic,(soon to be a 4-SPD this spring)
351M. Edelbrock performer Cam and Edelbrock Double Roller timing chain.Hooker Headers, Holley Street Dominatior Intake, and The Holley 780 CFM Carb were talking about.
Well it idled fine, but when u hammered it it would pop and try to kill itself out.Now it needs rebuilt. So im gonna try and make it right during the rebuild.
Still looking for suggestions. TY in advance.
That sounds like a squirter issue. It's either too big or too small. Check the slot on the drivers side of the carb for the secondaries. Make sure someone hasn't installed a screw in there, This will make it bog real bad. The rear barrels should not open when opening the front ones all of the way up with the engine off.
