power change fron 99 to 2000 on 5.4 in Super Duty F-250

The 5.4 engine in the 1999 F-250 Super Duty is rated at 230 hp but in 2000 it went up to 260hp. Can any one tell me why.

Ignition and injection... In "05" it went to 300 hp due to one additional valve.

Actually, that's what Ford told Doug D. (They obviously don't know it's rude to lie to the police.)

In 2000, the Super Duties' 5.4L got the PI heads. (Power Improved) The intake ports are larger and square shaped rather than the smaller tear-drop shaped ports of the non-PI heads. The 99 version of the Super Duty 5.4L also had IMT (Intake Manifold Tuning system) but that was dropped for 2000 and after. The ASES was, however, still available. (From 1999- early 2003).

See the the "PI" letters? Insignificant and yet how they catch the heart:

This is a picture of my 2003 1/2 heads taken between cylinders 1 & 2 on the passenger side.
I really couldn't tell any difference between my 1999 F250/5.4L with non-PI heads (235HP/335 ft/lbs torque) and my 2003 1/2 F250/5.4L with the PI heads. (260 HP/350 ft/lbs torque.) Maybe a more refined driver might. Sorry, that's all the tech stuff I know.

On edit: Dude, you should have bought a diesel... Just kidding! Just kidding!!!

Thanks for the info. Your right on the Diesel.

Thanks for the info in the heads. Does not look like anything easy to improve on. You are right, I should have bought a Diesel.
