Thumbs up Stop light+ F150 + Silverado = Race

I am not an advocate of just burnin around the local roads drag racing (at least not any more since I am somewhat older and wiser) but the conditions were just too perfect to resist. Also, I will concede trucks are not meant to be raced really but, this was a matter of pride.

However, I left the local post office this morning on my way to the gym and about a 2000 Silverado 4x4, extended cab with loud rear dual exhaust, hood scoop and nascar stickers rolled up next to me at a stop light. The lights changed, no one else was around and we hit it. Even out of the gates, the big bellied Supercrew pulled evenly on the bowtie guy all the way through 65 mph where I had almost two truck lengths. Man did that feel good. He signaled and then just got behind me after we both let off short of 70 mph. Just thought I would share.

I love the smell of burnt bow tie in the morning!

HA AH!!! That's great man. When do the turbo-chargers come out?

Anyway I have a quiz for the forum:

Pick out the one "Bow Tie Boy" from the choices below:

Hmmn, my Dad has an '03 1500 ext cab (4x4) with the 5.3 Vortec engine, I have an '04 4x4 SCREW with the 5.4.

My Dads Chevy will blow the doors off of my Ford and all the other '04 SCREWS I test drove.

Either the '00 had the smaller V8, or it had some other issues, or he didn't know he was in a race

Just my .02

He knew he was in a race believe me with the setup he had. He probably had the 5.3 in his truck. Hey were you racin man. Looks like he beat the guy and you can bet he was tryin. These Fords arnt as slow as people think. Maybe the bowtie boys will have to admit. The Fords will eat there lunch.

Maybe your dad got lucky and got a good engine. I've got an 04 SCREW FX4, and I can always beat the guy from work that has an 03 GMC extended cab Z71 with the 5.3

I have, every time, pulled away from my buddies 03' Tahoe /w 5.3 in my 04' scab 4x4 5.4. I don't even have 4k miles on it yet either.

I don't think it could have had the vortec. It was older too, so I know it was not their best package. I still enjoyed it though!!!

You might need to have the program in your truck updated, too. The initial load on my engine had the slow throttle response mapping, and it really had a negative impact on the off the line punch.

Nice to hear this.

Same situation with me once but I was in a 2.0L Focus and still got ahead but only up to 40 before 2 lanes became 1. I made him say "hmmmm"
