I havent done a search for this one so bare with me. Anyone else have an issue with fluttering gauges and most specifically the fuel gauge and what did it take to correct this? I have recently noticed that my '99 F-150 4x4 4.2l fuel gauge, amp meter and temp gauge will flutter/bob up and down about the width of the needle. This occurs on smooth highway roads so its not an issue of the vehicle bouncing. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
My fuel guage has this same problem. It started doing it after I put exhaust and intake on the truck, so I figured it just had something to do with that.
i haven't heard of this before, except when the battery is about to die. But this usually happens at start up, the guages will swing back and forth and then settle down into place, it does this a few times and then the battery will give out.
i have a 2000 F-150 that just started this 2 weeks ago,it will go to half and it is full.drive it a few miles and after it gets warmed up it will shoot up to full and work the rest of the day.
I still havent cured this problem because it hasnt really affected the drivability of the truck. But to give everyone an update the check engine light came on and (i dont remember the code number) the error code was theres a small leak in the evap system. I know it could mean anything from worn out gas cap to cracked fuel hose. I dont smell any fuel anywhere under the truck. I was just wondering if anyone ever had to make a repair to the evap system and what parts were replaced.
