96 ranger error code
I have a 96 ranger xlt super cab with the 2.3 4 cylinder DIS engine. My check engine light is on constantly. I get error code 1443 something about a purge valve. Truck runs fine, except every once in a while it will miss while going up a hill, but nothing big. runs great gets good mileage. i can live wit the light if this is something that rreally dosnt need to be fixed. any feedback greatly appreciated.

This code is for the charcoal cannister purge valve. The charcoal cannister traps the gasoline vapors from the tank and runs it through the engine to be burned. You'll need to check the valve to see if it will operate and check the rest of the circuit to be sure that power is getting to the valve when it's supposed to.

I have the same problem - I'm going to replace the valve, as the one on my Ranger isn't opening.
