Front bumper: what kind of chrome? and OEM part # ???
I am shopping for a replacement chrome front bumper for my 2002 F-250 SD XLT. Having cracked the surface in my research, I am now getting asked questions by potential suppliers such as, "is it Platinum or regular chrome?", and "what is the OEM part number of the bumper you have?".
How would I know if my front bumper is "Platinum" or not? And how do I determine what the OEM P/N of my existing bumper is?? Is the OEM P/N stamped somewhere on the bumper? If so, where??? Do I have to remove the bumper to find the P/N?
Thanks all...
Daryl

Get the Platinum if you can. The whole thing is metal and is chrome plated unlike the XLT bumper I have. The regular XLT chrome bumper is chrome for the top part and gray plastic for the lower part. The platinum bumper is like the XL bumper. The XL bumper is all metal but painted all black. One of these days, I'm going to replace my XLT bumper with an all black XL bumper.

Ironically, I found a place where the Platinum bumper is cheaper than the XLT bumper! Probably because the Platimum has fewer parts (ie, it doesn't have the grey plastic bumper filler/molding, huh?)

Is that correct?

I think they look better than the half-metal, half-platic kind I have now. Of course as they say in Canada: "Les gouts et les couleurs ne se discuttent pas." (Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder.) (As you can see, the air dam itself is still platic of course.)

Wow, that's some nice looking truck! I thought you had a SB white XL with a 6-speed? Where'd this CC beauty come from??? Great looking paint scheme, too. Is that a Ford thing, did you do that after-the-fact, or did Ford do it?
And BTW, I'm sold! I love the way the all-chrome front bumper looks. It;ll especially look nice with my Stull vertical grill (what, me get the horizontal bars like everyone else? Tsk-tsk-tsk....!)
Thanks for the pix of the Platinum bumper...

Nooooo! No no, that's not mine! Like you said, I have an el-cheapo-muy-grande white regular cab XL. I found these pictures on e-bay. There are quite a few of these 2001 Platinum's around Dallas. I think they were mostly sold in Texas and Oklahoma. But the Platinum Edition is a Ford thing, kinda like the Harley Davidson, King Ranch and the Amarillo Edition they have for 2005. I think the Plat's front bumper would indeed look pretty good on your truck.

So far I found the following info about front bumper replacements:

2. Parts Discount Warehouse, via Direct OE Outlet.com: (800)722-8038, ext.115 (in FL). $317.96 + shipping (which is 15% of parts cost, so = $47.69), for a grand total of: $365.65.
3. Ford Parts .com: (800)270-7531, 8:30am-4:30pm PST. $326.44 + shipping (which is 10% of cost of part, so $32.64), for a grand total of $359.08
4. Car Parts Wholesale.com: (800)515-1332, in CA. $222.95 for bumper w/ Platinum Pkg, P/N F010906; w/o Platinum Pkg $239.95, P/N FD9319; or BFT Sport Model bumper $249.95, P/N F010906. The guy there quoted me $77 shipping and they are located in CA like I am, but far enough away that it wouldn't pay to pick it up myself with the price of gas, wear and tear, miles on truck, etc.
That's it so far...
