strange tranny issues

As I was driving home tonight, I noticed that the OD "OFF" indicator on my shifter was flashing. I pressed the OD button and nothing happened. Traffic became stop and go, and when I accelerated, the uphifting was abrupt and jerky. I pulled over and turned the truck off. I restarted it after a minute and the OFF indicator was no longer flashing. I drove home uneventfully. Does anyone have any idea what just happened here?....Phil 99 F-350 CC Lariat V10

It was indicating to you that a fault code had been detected in the transmission. It could have been a one time event, but if I were you, I'd take it in to have codes pulled just in case, to be on the safe side.
