Question Has Anyone changed their fan/drive belt on their 6.0?

Hey fellow owners! Just wanted to know if anyone has changed their fan/drive belt on their 6.0 diesel? It sure looks complicated unless you have long skinny arms and baby hands to work around and under! Do you have to remove anything to change the belt? It really does look like alot more "work" than it should be? It seems to be one of those types of strategies to get you to take your truck to the dealer to help them make money! Just my opinion! Did you have to use "special" tools that....again...you can only get from the dealer? Just wondering?

I haven't changed one, but I read somewhere that standard procedure requires cutting the fan shroud in half and removing it. Someone (can't remember name) came up with the idea of using a nylon tie-down strap with ratcheting tightener to loosen and hold the tensioner pulley. As I recall, he hooked one end to a steering arm or some other front end linkage, and the other end to the tensioner. Tightened up the strap and replaced serpentine belt without taking anything else apart.

Try searching for "mickey mouse" (I think that's what he called his technique ).
