help with 1969 F100

I acquired a 1969 F100 with a 360 in it...It was abandoned on some family land many years ago so I decided to tinker with it.

I don't know much about fixing up trucks or anything, basically the thing probably hadn't run for over 10 years. It still had oil in it -- though dirty, and some coolant. I put in a new battery and cranked it up...Took some coaxing and some starter spray in the carb to get it going, but it did start and after some revving idled fine. I probably woudn't have bothered, but the engine did start and idle on it's own.

I shut it down and pulled off the carburetor since gas was pouring out the bottom of it spilling onto the engine. I've purchased a kit and float for it. What else should I do/check? Probably tough for anyone to advise since I don't even know where to start, but what would you do to start? What would be good to check out on something like this that hasn't run in 10 years and probably wasn't babied when it was running? I'm a total noob on this stuff, any recommended reading?

Thanks for the help. I hope it will be a fun a project to get it back in shape.

The first question is, Can you get a title? not much sense to spend money on it if you can't.

After you get it to hold water, oil, and gas, check to see if the brakes work. If they do, take it for a spin and see what you have.

#1, read old posts here. most every problem has been covered here, and the fix along with it. the search function is fantastic, when it is working.
#2 buy a service manual. some come with some fantastic pictures of all the differant systems. and the instructions are nice to have when you havent done it before.
#3 ask and ye shall receive, any advice or pointers you need are here for the asking.
