02 F250 SUB Enclosure

Has anyone put a box with 1 or 2 subs in an extended cab 250? Im trying to find someone to squeeze some in here without giving up one of my seats. Under the seat is what Id rather do. Let me know if anyone has done this before please along with what you through in there.

I'm getting ready to put two 8's under the rear seat of my 03 S-cab 250. That's all the room there is. My problem now is finding room for my amp

Do you have a full bench in the back or a 60/40? Does the box stick out past the front of the seat?

fab150, I put 1 10" in mine and it sounds awesome. Went with the Q-Logic custom box. It fits partway under the middle of the back seat and comes up like a center console. Even has 2 cupholders in it. And if you turn the stereo up loud enough, it'll mix your drink for you. You might be able to see a bit of it in my gallery pics. Here's a link off of crutchfields site: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6xuliAAYZ1X/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=182750&I=044CFSX056&search=q%2Dlogi c

ktm- Check my gallery for amp location. I had to cut a bit of the frame out of the backseat but it works perfectly (and doesn't overheat).

Good luck

2000silverbullet, Thats a good looking truck man. I cant believe that amp dont overheat. Its a good idea though I might have to try it. Probally have to squeeze a fan somewhere since Im running a RF amp. In your enclousure where is the sub at. I think Im gonna try to build something like that. Maybe a center console like one for the back. How wide is the enclosure and does it go all the back under the seat? Another ????? why didnt you like the PJs? That is what I was planning on running. I had the SSR 37s on my f150 so if you could compare them to those if ya need.

I have the 60/40 rear seat. The box when built should not stick out past the seat. I saw a pic on the net of a box and decided to copy it. We'll see how it turns out.

My one big amp will not fit in the cab so I'm doing two smaller amps.

Thanks, it's like an ongoing project! I guess some would say money pit, heh. Anyways, yeah that amp keeps on kickin' even in that location. And I live in AZ and the inside of vehicles gets HOT out here, so you can imagine. Also, in the back there there's those two cab vents (on both sides of the amp), so I know there's some kind of air circulation goin' on back there. You could easily wire a fan in there, that seat back comes off easy (just lift up) and there's plenty of room in there. As far as the sub goes, it fires down into the floor, the weight of the seat locks it in place, giving it only an inch or so (high) and about 3" (long) of firing space on both sides. But with that art series amp, it kicks HARD. I've already blown one jl audio 10, workin' on my second now. ha ha. That box tucks all the way under the back seat and butts up against the seat bracket. Per q-logic's site, it's .65 cubic ft of air space. As far as the pj's go, I just had a bad experience. Everyone out here (in az) runs 'em and I've heard great things about 'em but I just had a bad set I guess. I had 1 that I could never get balanced and another one that seperated on me. I'll never buy another set. I have 37" ssr's right now and love 'em. I think the ssr's ride better than the pj's. My pj's seemed to track all over the road, but they were 36x14.50's so compared to the ssr 37x12.50's they were quit a bit wider.

What kind of truck do you have that you can't fit one big amp in there? My ppi art series (ax606.2) is a monster of an amp and fit perfectly in there (minor seat frame cutting). I think my amp is about 2.5' long and about a foot wide.

That's a neat looking install. I might have to try it. Is that PPI amp fan cooled? I have a Soundstream VGA800.5. It's almost that big. I have the option of running it or two small RF amps that I have.

I'm still in the planning stages of my install. How/where did you run the power cables into the cab?

It's not fan cooled, it's el natural.. ha ha. I'd go with the big dog amp if you could get it to work.

I ran the power wire down the passenger side up under the firewall. If you look up against the firewall, you'll see a big grommet in there (assuming you have a SD). Cut a hole in it and shove that cable through.

The best thing to do (and this is what I did) is rip out all the seats and the carpet. It's so much easier in the long run when you're trying to move around in there. It's a bit more work but it makes the install cleaner and quicker. I ran the rca's off my head unit straight down the center of the cab (taped periodically so they wouldn't move around). The ground is grounded to the seat belt anchor in the back seat.

I have an 03 F250 Supercab. I didn't think there was enough room behind the seat for anything. How much of the seat frame did you remove? Any problems with somebody sitting back threre?

Thanks man! You got me pumped up about running the big amp again.

KTM - I didn't think I could fit that amp in there either, but I kept looking at it and thought it HAD to fit somehow. I didn't end up having to remove much of the frame, just the center portion of it that rests against the body of the truck. What I did was pull the seat back off, bolt the amp in and then hold the seat up against it and mark where to cut the frame with a black marker. Get out the grinder and just start chopping away. Nobody even notices when they're sitting back there and it feels normal when you lean back against it. I do plan on putting some fans in there eventually, but now with winter here, I'm not going to worry about it.

FAB- Not sure what you mean. Are you asking if you could mount the 10 sideways on the box instead of facing down? Let me know.

That is what I was asking but I dont need to know anymore. I started builing mine today. Looks just like the q-logic almost minus the cup holders and its made of MDF.
I got all my pieces cut today but i ran out of battery power so it will be finished up tomorrow. Im not sure if I am gonna try the amp where yours is or just put it under a seat or something. Im really glad you had a pic of that enclosre up man. It should work quite well. I am putting my 12" Diamond Audio M6. Hopefully it will have enough airspace. I cant figure out the volume with all the trapazoid looking thing. Guess I shoulda paid some attention to the geometry teacher.

Good luck with it, hope it works out well. BTW- My box has .65 cubic feet of air space, if that helps anymore.
