Ive got a 1974 F-350 with a 360Cid, 4 spd manual, np-205 t-case. As much as i love manual transmissions ive always liked autotrans more but i dont know what one will link up to my engine and fit in the year of my truck. If i had to guess, ide guess a C-4 or C-6 tranny. I dont even want to bother with a C-4 but i will consider a C-6. Anyone have any info ide appreciate it Thx.
i forgot to mention that i wanted to put in a B&M Star Shifter that way when i haul heavy loads i can shift it with ease. If anyone knows what hardware ill need for this please any info would help Thx.
Bronco,
The C6 will bolt up to a 360. It is an "FE" and falls into the big block family.
I believe the 4WD has a shorter version of the C6, which makes it compatible with the transfer case. This is a little out of my league. We need Dennis's help. HELP, Dennis where are you!

i believe you can use any c6 transmission from the fe family (352,390,428 and so on). the 4x4 model is shorter therfore boltss right up to the transfer case unless of course you have a divorced transfercase. the cross member should not have to be adjusted either! let us know if you have a divorced transfercase or not?
Bronco - I've got a C-6 w/ FE bellhousing and the intermediate driveshaft for a divorced NP205. Let me know if you're interested, I'm in SE WI, not sure how close that is to you though. I'm going the other direction so we could just swap trannies and driveshafts. Since we're not allowed to post emails, you can get mine off of my website if you want to contact me: http://www.markdevaney.com/truck
