New 250

I just bought a '94 F-250 X-Cab 4x4, and it has decals on the body that I'm not all that keen on. Can I remove these, or will it need a new paint job? I can live with them if it's a big deal, but I'd rather lose them. Check out my gallery to see the decals.

Bill.

There is a drill-powered rubber wheel used to remove decals/graphics without damaging the paint, though you may need to rub it out afterwards. I believe 3M makes it, and you can get it through a shop that does body-work supplies. Sometimes it is called a decal eraser.

I have removed old decals and tape pinstriping by using a hair drier to get the decal hot then carefully scrape it off with a thin guitar pick. Dont get it too hot, you might hurt the paint.
One potential drawback is that the paint underneath the decal will be non-faded and you may get a ghost image of the decal.

Talk to people at a paint and body shop. A heat gun probably will take the decals off.

The hair dryer/heat gun trick works pretty good.
