2004 - 2005 Ford F150 Announcements & Technical Service Bulletins

Please use descriptive titles for your posts.

The generic "Help me" type title while "cute" is of no help to other users trying to identify posts they may have knowledge about.

Please post all of the information about your truck!

-We assume the make is Ford
Year
Model
2wd/4wd
Engine
Transmission
-At least the basics please!
And any other information you think might help.

Your cooperation will help speed up getting help to all of the users here.

PLEASE post only one question per topic! Multiple questions in the same thread add confusion.

========
To Experienced Users! If you see a post that you think might not belong, click the "Red triangle with the ! symbol" button and we will take care of it. If you have any questions or comments, please contact a Moderator privately.

========
Please use a spelling checker on your posts and titles to help with searches by other users.
Use this spelling checker if you don't have one.
http://www.spellcheck.net/

Also try not to use slang terms for things like a distributor (dizzy) since it makes it more difficult for other users to search for information.

Titling Threads .......Please Read !

Titling Threads...Please Read

In an effort to help new arrival users or even established users searching for info about the same topic you are asking about.
Please Title your threads with a mention of the topic instead of "Help Me" or "Please Help", or " Now ,I Know".

We have this wonderful search engine and users aren't *always* typing in the topic

Thanks

VIN Decoding and Vehicle Rating Plate Codes

Check out the list of links in my FTE webpage http://torque1st.clubfte.com for links to these items. You can also find some good decoders on Mil1ions Website.

VIN and data plate decoder: 1970-80 http://www.medicine.wisc.edu/~mrm/bronco/ftvin.cgi

Vin and data plate decoder:1982-2005+ https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

VIN decoders and information can be found in any Chiltons, Haynes, or OEM service manuals also.

The OEM service manuals for many years can be found here at the online store.

The VIN number can be found on the ratings plate tag on the driver side door or on the top of the right hand frame rail somewhere on the front half. It can also be found on the certification label.

The ratings plate information is the rest of those letters and numbers on the door plate. The ratings are also found on the certification label.

The vehicle certification label is attached to the rear face of the drivers door or door pillar. The certification label has the VIN and ratings info.

On some models there is a rating plate on the right side of the cowl under the hood. Some Bronco models have the plate on the inside of the glove compartment door.

Build sheets for our trucks are available at:

Service and Repair Manuals:

Haynes is probably best for a novice mechanic.

Next get a Chilton's as you gain experience and need more information.

When you really need to know your vehicle, get the OEM service manuals on CD available from the online store here.

If you only need wiring diagrams:

www.motorhaven.com
www.autokrafters.com
www.macsautoparts.com

All have the wiring diagrams for well under $8.00, and they all help keep this site going.

I would like to thank jwyles for compiling this TSB list for us all. You can catch a brief description of all TSBs issued for our trucks so far. It will be updated as needed. The entire list can be accessed here:

http://www.pinchotriders.com/tsb/200...150/index.html

An expanded version, with what appear to be official TSB notices from a Ford booklet can be found here:
