Steering binding after body lift

Steering binding after body lift
Just installed a 3 inch body lift this past weekend and everything went smooth but now the steering is binding. It looks like the angle has increased at the rag joint in the steering shaft. Is there a way to adjust this? I'd say it's almost dangerous to drive!! There were no problems with my steering prior to the body lift.
Thanks,
Jason

Tipically when installing a body lift they come with a spacer add in for the stiring link or give you some srot or shaft addon option when buying it to halp compensate. had this happen with a kit a freind of a freind asked me to help install. I told him he would need it before we started then once we installed eveything else it took him another 3 to 4 weeks to get the right parts from the kit manufacterer. If it's a kit you bought get with them otherwise if it came from another vehicle then go back to that vehicle and snag the parts of of it. I've seen many people get them of other vehicles but leave behind brackets and steering components. Just be ready to pay a little extra if a purchased kit, and they say the have a replacement shaft ir it's just a spacer they may send it free of charge or just for shipping fees. hope this helps.

According to the instructions...the collapsable steering column will extend about 1 1/4" and mine did. That is all it said about steering. The kit did come with and I installed the extended shift linkage for the auto tranny. Transfer case is electric so no extention there.
I did email Performance Acc about the problem but have yet to hear back.
Thanks for the help!

BTW, it will take their technical department a couple of days to get to you.

Hey just to let you know you shouldn't have to MAKE it work. if you check the specs onb the steering shafts you'll find it was never rated to be extended to that length. That's why you typically have a spacer come with the kit or a replacement longer bottom half of the steering shaft. Usaully from what I understand and correct me if I'm wrong the shaft "break in" is from the shaft wearing on the other half which makes it weaker. Just a thought, you might want to consider if you're not sure talk to any four wheel accessory shop that installs body lifts they will most likely say the same thing. Just don'w want anybody gettting sqished out there. (namely those the rice burners that run around, they already have enough money, no need your insurance giving them more for running them over!)
