Expedition Radio Problems
I have a 1997 Ford Expedition with a Mach Stero including subwoofer. Recently the radio started to cut in and out. The head unit always appears to be working, but the sound will work on and off. Sometimes when it is on you can tell the subwoofer is not working. I have checked all the fuses inside and out and all appear to be in good working order. Therefore, I changed the head unit. This worked great at first, but shortly it also cut out. If I plug headphones into the rear controls the radio works. Has anyone dealt with this problem?

Some Expeditions came with an additional Pre-amplifier, besides the back subwoofer. If you already change your head unit and the cut off affects all of the speakers, then for sure you have a problem with this pre-amplifier. Sometimes it's better to replace this pre-amp with a new aftermarket one, it could be cheaper.
