Question 88 chevy truck clutch replacement

Hello
I luckily own a ford, but there's 88 4x4 chevy fullsize truck 5spd 5.7L that needs a clutch replaced in it, just a simple swap new in for old. Just wondering if anyone has done this and knew about how hard it is and what some of the procedures are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The torsion bars and their crossmember make the job a little more difficult, (they are just more stuff in your way)but all-in-all it is pretty much just like any other clutch job.

Its been about 5 years since I did one of these, but I dont remember any special tools. I would replace the disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing and the pilot bearing. Also take a close look at where the throwout bearing slides on the transmission bearing retainer and make sure the surface is smooth.

The hard part is getting the transmission out and back in. I built my own transmission jack years ago. Maybe you can rent one, unless you are a weightlifter.

I was hoping to get it done in one weekend, thanks for the help, I guess if I look at a chiltons manual I shouldn't have much trouble then.

You should be able to get it done in one day easy. Also I use long bolts with the heads cut off to help guide it back in.
