Spun rod bearing

How to go about this. The plan was to remove the oil pan and replace the bearings, simple right? Well accourding to the Haynes manual you lift the enigne a couple of inchs from the motor mounts and out comes the pan, WROUNG. I have the engine lifted as far up without removing the intake manifold, and the oil pan will not come out. Three options; one romove the intake manifold and lift the enigne a couple more inches up, two remove the tranny, 5 speed, and pull out the pan from the back, and three bolt the pan back up fill it with oil and drive down to a shop and let them pull it. Post any idea anyone has.

Although I can't answer this question, I have to say that I am appauled at the total lack of response that everyone has given here. I KNOW some of you guys know the answer to this because I've read threads that discuss this and others related to timing covers and so forth.

Come on people.

(just thought I'd stick up for ya there )

By the time you do all that stuff to lift the engine, you could have pulled it and had the pan off replacing the bearings.I,for one, would want a clean place to install bearings, not laying under a dirty truck installing them.Besides,I dont think the pan will clear the front main bearing cap.
