Will straight pipe exhst on a 7.3 hurt anything?
I have a '93 7.3L. It's time for new exhaust. A buddy of mine has an '88 7.3L with straight exhaust. It sounds awesome. My question is will it hurt anything other than your hearing to run straight pipe?

Nope, ears is about the only thing.
If you have noise police in your area, it may hurt your wallet.
It will help the truck, use three inch pipe though for a single exhaust.

Or your relations with your neighbors when you live at the end of the road in a subdivision with only one way out and you leave at 5:00 AM to go hunting. My neighbor is a logger and we flash both of our diesels up at the same time and leave at the same time to minimize (maximize?????) the reverberating wonderful sound on a cold morning.

You might want to----
----add a turbo to suck up some sound before it makes it out the tail pipe, all though a free flowing muffler would be cheaper and more logical, but (if you want to) screw logic, go turbo!

I put 2.5 " dual straight pipes on a truck I had a few years ago. OOOOhhhh what a sound , couldn't sneak up on anybody, only problem was that it ran a lot cooler and used more fuel, I think because of the cooler operating temp.

I Have A 93 With A Turbo And I Made Straight Pipes Out Of 6 Inch Semi Stacks. It Just Follows The Original Exhaust Positioning. And Yes It Does Sound Sweet. I Still Get 14 Mpg When I Keep My Foot Out Of It And Don't Downshift To Let The Neighbors Hear Me.
