How do you calculate horse power?

something is screwy about that 1/4 mile formula.
4150 lbs x .4 x 87mph divided by 282 = 512hp I wish.

They talk in Brake hp, you loose about 15-25% to the rear wheels

Yup, it does not add up.

Ahhh There IS a God! I have been trying to find this info out for a LOONG time now....Dang, I should have asked a loong time ago!

I plugged the numbers in and my 67 mustang has (acording to the formula) 434HP & 379 FT LB torque without the nitrous, and a whopping 540hp and 473 ft lbs torque with the nitrous. WOW! I built it right! 351w

That formula does not work. Does anyone know the correct formula?

All of those "drag race" type formulas are approximations.
