I've got a 57 ranchero that will be undergoing a resurrection. it is almost all there (glass especially) no rearend. Motor and trans will be traded out for a 429 interceptor with a C-6 and an 9in rear. Now here are a couple ideas I've been playing with just want a little feedback here. Now I know that some of it will probably be from traditionalists but hey this is a free country ain't it? Here's one thought straight front axle with rack and pinion steering kinda gasser style with flip front. I have gotten away from the 85 lincoln level ride because of the weight up front. now the reason for flipping the front is to have room to work on things up front, plus I think most rods that are built look cool with the flip front. the next question would be which type of fuel injection multiport or blower injection. that one would probably go with the style of driving. The 429 is more ecomomical to run than the 460 but since it is an Interceptor would that apply. I am abit skeptical about it being an interceptor are there any different casting numbers for the PI versus stock? It is supposed to be a 72 or 73 interceptor. It was transplanted into a 70 torino that has become a donor for a 71 torino gt drop top. I'm not changing the body lines any I am however getting rid of all the chrome except head and taillight rings and bumpers. so there it is gimme feedback.

the police interceptor heads from 72-73 vintage have a casting number unique to the PI cars. d20ea or d20eab. if your engine has those heads it probably is a PI. also the PI c6 has a cast iron tailshaft housing on the transmission. jim
