40 ford car heater ID

We picked up a 40 ford 4 door car in a barn. Had a hot air exhaust manifold heater system. My dad thought these were somewhat rare and desirable. where these an option? was a water heater offered as well?? is there any other old ford car forums around?
I put 2 pictures of it in my gallery.
thanks Mark

Exhaust heaters were an option. Hot water heaters weren't very common on 40's since that era Ford didn't provide enough heat from the engine coolant. Another (more common) practice was to install a gasoline (less gasoline) heater. They put out plenty of heat, and fast! Of course fuel econmy suffered, but hey, gas was cheap then.
