once again hi and thanks for all the help. where can i find a video or even templates for the volare swap for a 1953 f100? does someone have a video i could buy or pay for a copy? thanks
The no limit video is 34.95. I didn't use the video or the templetes when I installed mine. I went by the Classic Truck article and also used John's website as a reference and it came out great. But if you have zero experience than I think you should get the video and templete. Here is the description of the video:
This video shows you what it takes to mate a Chrysler Aspen or Volare front end to your F-100. All details of the installation are included. Some of the features are how to measure everything up, how to set anti-dive angles, how to trim the outside of the clip for more professional and aesthetically pleasing job. Other topics include how to box the front frame rails, the fabrication of covers for the adjusters, and how to install the motor mounts, transmission mount, and basic vehicle alignment.
By the way I done this on a Chevy thats why I did not get the video.
thanks for the info i will get that ordered. i went through auto-body school and they went over welding and fabricating BS i think that i can handle it and if not my neighbor is a master welder. once again thanks and wish me luck.
I used the video to put an 87 Chrysler T-bar under a 48 F-3. So, what you put it under isn't really that important. The video is pretty generic and will help you install it under most anything with straight front frame rails. Having a master welder next door has to be an asset, but if you can weld at all you will have no problem with this. There are some pictures of my install in my gallery. Good Luck...
A little suggestion. Mark the axel center on your frame and just tack the volare in. You can always remove tack welds. Put the front sheetmetal on (you don't bolt everything down) and it you don’t like it its easy to make adjustments. You can always remove tack welds. Don't weld nothing until the axel are sitting center in the wheel well. Its takes a little more time but its worth it. I can't tell how many trucks I've seen that used the original axel center and it looks as if the wheels are sitting back to far. Take your time and do it right. Once its welded in its in there man. Measure, measure, and measure again. What I did was, I got it how I wanted it and came back fresh the next day and measured it again, and then I welded it in. The reason I done that is because you can spend so much time on something and it all starts looking that same.lol I have mental lapses sometimes.lol
