TO Fordnut, Quad, Kwik and the rest of you volunteering to help. Thanks again!!! As a preventive measure, I had the u-joints, carrier bearing and rearend lube changed at the same time. Picked up the truck last night & put the first 160 miles on it. Am now down in Portland returning the core. Consensus at the shop was that I wasted the clutches, not the converter, but no teardown was done. New unit from Transmission Exchange seems to work great, but I haven't loaded it up yet. Nice mellow shift with no load. Tow Matrix trannys have a monster cooler with them, good for 26000!!! Another 210 miles to Pendleton & I'll get a load.

 

I'm glad you're back on the road. Keep us posted how that tranny works for you, long term.
