i really don't know. i do like the sound of short glass packs. i only got the purple hornies because the had the 3 inch collector flange on one end and i was gonna put a turndown at the other end and that was gonna be my whole exhaust. but the darn crossmember got in the way so i had to send them back, but the summit glasspacks i exchanged them for are louvered on the inside just like the purple hornies. this 302 is gonna sound awesome, right now with open headers on it sounds like a freakin' race car. loud!!!!

that is up to you. i just knew i wanted short glasspacks because i wanted the truck to be loud! They all nearly cost the same, i mean the summit ones were 19 and the purple hornies were 25 so 6 dollars is no big deal if you think the purple hornies are better get them. i just know the shorter the glasspack the louder it is!

I wouldnt bother with the purple hornies. I think they are identical to the Flowtech Redhots. Order a summit catalog. You can get 24" Redhots for $18 a piece. They have a louverd core so they are little queieter then regualr glasspacks. My motor is so friggin loud with the redhots it is almost unbearbale. Course im running a bigger motor then a little 302 so that makes a difference. At idle they are loud as hell and going down the road there loud as hell. I dont have a radio though so I need some sort of noise to keep enertained. I love going by the neighbors house and flooring it I take it up to redline and it is so loud the dude came out time while I was going by and yelled at me, but I couldnt hear em. =)

The only real diff between the purple hornies and the red hots is that the hornies have triangular louvers and alot less of them then the redhots hundreds of tiny rounded ones. And is there really anything else to do other than talk about Purple Hornies?

Now frigin way fella's. This thread is only alive cause more people like me like to talk about exhaust. I just have another question. Do all the glasspacks sound the same? I mean is there a difference in sound besides length? If I get longer ones will the sound be deeper?

Also everyone loves a place to post about mufflers so why not this thread? Is there a paint that can be applied to make glasspacks last longer?

I'm not sure about the longer ones sounding any deeper but if you go longer they will be quieter. The Thrush Magnums and the Volt glasspacks are gonna be a bit louder than Red hots, Purple Hornies and Flo Pros. Perf tube vs. Louvers. Actually a couple guys I know have just gotten inspection notices and excessive noise fines because they had burnt out Thrush mufflers on thier Dodges. If you can afford it, and have the time, Start with straight pipes, then just start from the short glasspacks to the long ones. See what you like. I have actually heard 2"in/2"out 40" ones on an old 351W, they didn't sound too bad.

I just remembered, even though they are perf tube mufflers, go and check with Napa, they have the Volt ones and they are polsihed stainless steel. come in 2" to 3" in/out.

I personally think louvered packs are the nicest sounding but the Volt glasspacks are better built. The only way you will ever need to replace them is if you get pulled over by the cops. Perf tubes offer less turbulance through the muffler then the louvers.

Bring Back the Horndog! LOL. Do people that have purple hornies on their truck write on the tailgate..."my truck is hornie"? lol. That'd be gold.

I think I might as well dump the purple hornie idea. Seems like to me that they have the same sound thruout the redline. I don't like that. I like to surprise people. Maybe bullets are right for me! Ya. Hornie truck? lol.
