One of my friends has a 1978 truck that he wanted to trade me or sell to me for real cheap.The only problems I have is that it doesnt have a box and its not 4WD.I could get a 1979 Full Size 4x4 Bronco real cheap so could I make the 1978 a 4x4 out of it?

yea, it's doable, but it's just a pain in the butt. most people think your better off to just buy a 4wd instead of screwing around with the conversion. if you do the vonversion, you will want to have the donor vehicle there.

 

You can do it is right, but your better off buying a 4x4.

You have to basically do a tranny swap, install all the 4x4 shifter stuff.
Swap out the front axle and make sure the ratio is the same as the rear ratio.
Make sure the font axle is adjsuted to the body correctly and not crooked.

Thats the first part. Then you gotta figure out how to get the stearing to work right, so you probably have to do stearing work.
you'd also need a new rear drive shaft, cause the drive shaft lenght would be different.


Thats a lot of friggen work. and to be honest. i'd only want to be doing that while it was just a frame, not while the body is on the whole thing.
