Turn signal won't latch one way

Hey all,

Just replaced my turn signal cam on 82 Bronc w/tilt. Now I can latch correctly when signalling to the left but will not latch when signalling right. The latch is not broken, it just appears that the cam can't turn far enough to that side to catch.

I have made sure that my rewire job is out of the way of this also.

Any ideas.

Regards.

Have you checked to positioning of the cam? could be that it is too far one direction.

I might not be following you here, but the turn signal cam slides onto a rectangular pivot point, then it just turns on this. How can I adjust this?

Sorry I meant the entire switch. I dont know if there is room for error but maybe the switch itself isnt sitting centered from up to down. So the turn signal arm may be hitting on the steering column cover.

I just had the same problem. I bought an aftermarket turn signal cam at Schucks. It would only latch one way. What I found was that one of the 2 straight wires on the back of the cam that contacts the brass terminals (the outermost one), was a little too long to allow the cam to fully seat into position. So, with wire cutters, I snipped off about .090 from each end of the wire. I re-installed it and it works fine now.

I had a problem with 3 aftermarket "motormite" replacement cams, I wound up going to a junkyard and just putting in factory one.
