From what I've been able to find, it will bolt on.
However, the 78 and earlier engines are internally balanced, so, it would have to be re-balanced to a neutral balance.

Could I buy a Neutral balance flywheel?
Also If I was changing the flywheel on the 88 how would I know where to position it?
Thanks for the quick reply!
On my 1996 Bronco with the 302, I have the same question about position of the external balance weight on the flywheel. Having been a chevy man, I never had to worry about external balancing except on the 400 small block. Any help would be appreciated.
The holes in the flywheel only line up in one position. So it can only be bolted on one way. The wieght is either cast in on a flywheel or welded on a flexplate.
OK, I'll give this a shot. Granted, I am in my office and just checked hole centers with a tape. I can see that the weight is cast in the flywheel (thanks). Incidentally, I'll let you guys know how my all-China flywheel, plate, disc, actuator, and release bearing swap perform. The parts were all new, and I spent about $255 for all the parts, though I also replaced the hydraulic line ($64 from Ford) and had to pay import taxes to bring it to Ecuador ($75). Thanks again.
