diy all the way. I think a T3/T4 hybrid would be a good turbo unit. Just fab up a crossover and a log header on the opposite side. Hook up a waste gate to the log header. Buy an intercooler mount it in front of the radiator. Take the air coming out of this to the intake. Simple right? check www.turbomustangs.com and do a SEARCH or they will get really ****ed at you.

I am all about centrifugals and turbochargers, but that Whipple is a good kit and looks AWESOME!

I have to comment that the T3/04 Hybrid is a bit too large even for the 4.2, and I am afraid you would not have the bottom end you are looking for. This size turbo may not spool until 3-3500 RPM. Maybe a 62-1...

i've got the Turbochargers book byhugh macinnes, and he says for a 190CI engine like a 3.0 is at 7psi boost to go wtih a TO4B with S-4 trim and O-.58 turbine A/R. Its an old book, but i doubt the physics have changed. The math can be found all over the web to match up turbos and compressor maps are around too.

The AR number is what dictates where you get your boost. If you go with a .48 AR , you can boost a saturn 1.9 to over 300 HP. Thats on a t3. Again its all about the AR number. The lower the less total boost you get, but the quicker you get it. Id recomend getting a turbo out of a factory turbocharged car.
