Talking Replaced fuel pump, all is right in the world again

Thinking that my fuel pump was going out, I went out and bought the Schucks equivalent to the coveted Bosch 0-580-254-984 fuel pump(Master 8314). Well I hooked them both up to a 12v power supply. the stock suspect pump poured out a whopping 4 oz in 30 seconds. The new one delivered 20 oz in 10 seconds I am not sure how my truck even ran on diesel, let alone oil. There is now very little seat o' pants differance between veg oil and Diesel. Did take some thinking to get the new pump plumbed in, but was well worth it.

Fordnut- I was reading your posts with cameltoe, do you think the veggie oil had anything to do with your fuel pump going out? I'm just curious, keep the info coming.

Actually no, was a severe case of IDIOTitus Come to find out, Cookie was right, the screen on the stock pump was plugged, after a can of brake clean, and shaking the thing senseless, it stopped spewing slivers of wood. I had use a wood slat several times to check the level of the tank, not thinking anything of it. OOPS! Won't do that again. I now have a small clear filter on the output line of the tank. went to retest the pump, and of course it worked just fine, pumping 12oz in 10sec(33.75gph@0psi) instead of 4 in 30. But that was still behind the flow rate of the replacement(56.25@0psi) I am very glad I replaced the pump anyway. the truck has never run better on veg oil, ever, and I can no longer tell a seat of pants differance between diesel and oil . I had always suspected that fuel pressure was the cause of the lack of power on veg, well this pretty well confirms it.

Fordnut: What is your source for veggie oil? We in CA are dieing do to fuel prices and lack of lubricosity in the diesel. As of today $2.50 per and going up. I missed a lot of your previous info sorry. You can send direct to KA6EPF@aol.com if you wish.

Thanks PWRPROD

PWRPROD- You can find WVo from nearly any restaraunt, or supermarket with a deli. Some of these palces actually prefilter it before they dump it, so it is chunk free. That is what you want to try to find.
