The guards I got said 4x2 on the package, too, but they went on my FX4 just fine. One hole didn't line up on one end of the truck (I think it was the front) and I think there was no hole in the fender trim either (amazing how quick I forget). Otherwise it fit fine. To make the missing hole I just took a finish nail, bent it 90 degrees, held it in a propane torch flame (using pliers), and then melted a hole from the backside through both pieces of plastic. Worked perfect, & left a nice hole with rounded edges. Didn't even have to pull a wheel.

Hmmm, I see no reason why the 4X4 fenderwell would be any different than the 4X2. I put Ford molded splashguards on my 2003 4X2 and my 2003 4X4 (Not FX4) and they were identical as far as hole locations were. The difference is the skirt length of the 4X2 flaps versus the 4X4. Look here at these two pics of the front and rear flaps of my 4X4.

I wondered about the length since they said 4x2 on the package, but they were the part number that the Ford Accessories site said to order. They fit around the molded trim on the FX4 and they are long enough. I haven't seen any others to compare them to, but they work just fine for me! They are long enough to keep splash off the body and that's all I was looking for. I thought maybe the only difference was that the 4x4 ones might say 4x4 on them instead of Ford.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, too when I was ordering mine fron the website. As you can see they don't say 4X4.

What site did you order from? I used these people
