Valvetrain noise?
destroyed my 390 by failing to torque the connecting rods.Lasted 800 miles
then took out the number 1 and 5 cylinders.Anyway the 390 was quiet as a
mouse. Now the 360 into 390 has valvetrain noise on the right bank. The engine has a crane cam and lifter set new push rods and new valve springs.
So I replaced the rocker shaft assembly on that side ,same noise.I then replaced the lifters on that side thinking that a lifter was damaged when
the 390 blew.Same noise. So now the guy bought 60 thousanths longer push rods to install thinking that will take care of the noise.I am reluctant to install these pushrods because they are so much longer than stock.I am afraid of valves not closing and lifters taking a beating. What do you guy's think?
