Where to buy custom steel wheels in Minnesota ?

I am looking to get a set of wheels with a 3.5" backset about 9" wide. Anyone familiar with a good shop around the area that can order them or might have something instock? I have a 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern.

Talk to Discount Tire. They stock most american racing rims. Don't know about a 15x9, but on a 15x8 Steel american racing standard backspace is usually 3.75"

You can order them direct from Stockton Wheel. The shipping may be high from CA though. John

You might want to try www.newstalgiawheel.com also. They quoted a real competive price on some wheels for me recently at a Goodguys show. You may not need tires but they said if i bought the complete package they would ship free. They are part of Coker Tire in Chattanooga, Tenneesee so the shipping might be more reasonable than from Ca.

You can try Pioneer Rim & Wheel in Minneapolis (612-331-1311).

They didn't have what I needed (I bought from Stockton), but they have a large selection. FYI: It cost me $215 to ship 6 steel wheels from CA. Good luck.

I checked with American Racing and they do not offer a black. I called Stockton Wheel and found these which I can get in any powder coated color I choose. http://www.stocktonwheel.com/nostalgia_wheels.htm I am looking for plane Jane wheels like this.

Wow, Stockton is making some serious bucks on the shipping, I get near them once or twice a month...if nonone is in a super-rush-hurry, I'd be happy to pick'em up and send them UPS, FEDX etc to you for actual cost of shipping.

Christopher:

I bought a set (4) of used black steel Ford wheels on ebay in April for $100. They are 8 lugs for my F3. They were shipped in pairs from Fresno, CA. The total shipping charge was $71, and I believe the shipper was DHL (same as Airborne). If you can find a seller that will shoot straight with you, the shipping will not be too bad. For some shippers it is cheaper to ship to a business than to a residence.

I have found on heavy (>70 pounds) that DHL is the cheapest. Be careful of their website, because the prices they give are estimates, and the actual is sometimes higher.

Another company that makes steel wheels is Wheel Vintiques, website www.wheelvintiques.com, but I'm not familiar with their pricing and shipping costs.

I bought four chrome steel wheels plus four moon hubcaps from The Early Wheel Co Inc (phone 805-688-1187) in 2000 the UPS shipping cost then was $72.00. That was from Ca to Mi. I am sure it's gone up some but it may be worth a call. I think they have a web site just don't know what it is.

It tried several places shipping is about 35.00- 40.00 per wheel. I guess I am going to have to go a a few salvage yards. I may just have to tub the bed a bit then I could use just about any steel wheel.

I got my wheels through Bob Drake who gets them from Wheels Vintique. I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure shipping was under $20 per wheel. Be careful of the salvage yards or you could end up with bent ones like mine were.
