I have been having problems with the belt being thrown on my 360. i realized the other day that the ps pulley and the crank pulley are off at least a whole thickness of the pulley. What can i do to correct it so i don't throw any mreo belts? Thanks.
Go to the junkyard and get another pump or pull the pulley off and use it on yours but remeber that they are pressed on. On mine I swapped pulley to the good pump and had it done at a shop for ten bucks. Good luck finding a pulley.
There is a spacer about 1/2"+ thick that locates the PS bracket out from the block on mine, so I wonder if that might be missing for yours? Which way is the PS pulley "off" from the CS pulley? I'd think that if the spacer is missing, it would be off where it bolts to the water pump too, but something to look at in any case. Do you have a couple threads showing where the nut fastens the pulley to the PS shaft?
Good observation. Mine has body shims or shims they use on controls arms I am not sure what they are called but they work great. Sorry no threads but you will need a harmonic or steering wheel puller(same thing) but its easier to take it in, because I tried the puller and it broke. I think its just a center nut in the pulley and then you use the pulley puller and after that it has to be pressed on. So if you can find one at a junkyard that matches what you need it would be alot easier and faster. In my case I could not find one and had it swapped over (pulley) to the good used pump.
i have not gotten another chance to look at it but I can tell you that in relation to the front of the truck, the cs pulley is closer to the front than the ps pulley. So the spacer observation might do the trick. I'll get a better look at it tomorrow. thanks for the tips everyone.
