Mr4speedford,

The only reason I used the Testor's glue to affix the letters was to be certain they wouldn't peel off. I wasn't sure how changes in temperature and humidity would affect the adhesive on a paper label. I don't ever want to glance down to see that my FUEL gauge has become an "FU" gauge.
I built a lot of models as a kid, so I know that Testor's glue will hold on for dear life. The glue, in case you're wondering, is Testor's Model Master Liquid Cement No. 8872. It's really runny (perfect for dipping letters) and not stringy (so you don't leave a trail of glue everywhere).

For everyone else that asked, I'm considering possibly taking on a few gauge clusters for renovation, but I haven't quite decided yet.

Also, I know I only posted the before and after shots of the front, but the inside and back of the gauge housing look just as good. Everything's been cleaned and painted or replaced...even the little cardboard tubes and green and blue bulb filters.

TC

Thanks for the info on the glue, I'm worried about my ability to dip the letters in glue, but will try it soon anyways. Thanks again, -4speed

Great detail...Exceptional job!

BTW for you other fellas, I've found a flourescent orange 'highlighter' works great on the needles, too.

I used a fluorescent orange nail polish on a restore. Still bright after six years.

Super nice job. I've got a couple of extra 48-50 gauge clusters you test your skill on if you want to try someting different. I'm impressed.
