motor box insulation

i have a 61 econoline pickup and want to insulate the inside of the motor box. the engine puts out alot of heat and i don't have a/c so it gets hot in there in nc. also, can you put a/c in one of these? thanks in advance for any help you can give me. bob

the insulation is a matter of personal choice, the only thing you have to be carefull about is that it is fireproof! some underhood insulation is only fireproof if the barrier is not broken! restraunt supplies have a real good fireproof insulation that is used on exhaust hoods, kinda expensive but it works real good.

yes you can put a. c. on an early econo, you have to use the brackets from an early falcon or comet. about any under dash unit will fit . placement of the condensor is critical to get the proper airflow thru it.
