How rare is a 1979 f350 4x4

How rare is a truck like this. I'll be looking for another 79 or so 4x4 in about 6 months and thought about looking for one. I just think it would be pretty wild to have one.

in my neck of the woods there is quite a few. probably 12 or so in my town of 38,000. Many of them were used as plow trucks. The F-100's & 1979 F-350 4x4 are probably the most rare in my area. I called a guy up to look at this truck that he said is completely stock and nothing has been done. He said that it was a 1978 F-350 4x4. I know that they didn't make a 4x4 350 in 78. so i asked him(being the origanal owner) if he or someone else had changed the badges to f-350 from f-250 and he said no. I don't get it. i told him where to go (no i didn't tell him to go to He**, i told him to log on this site and ask) . he said that he was extremely affended before i told him about the site. this guys was one of those scrubby nasty guys, probably late 40's age, so i told him i wasn't intrested. and left. people are weird!!! i didn't think that i was out of line by asking him about the badges. Sorry about the crap. i just had to tell you. Post the vin before you buy if you want an authentic F-350 not a 250 with changed badges. lol. i know it's not really any help as me being out west but i gave you my #'s. theres not many old fords in the junkyard either, they're al still running around.

That would be rare as they were not made.

f250ranger, good post! People will do whatever they can and tell you what you want to hear in order to get the top dollar for their vehicle. You know they did'nt make a 78 F350 4x4, he was just caught in his own trap!!

Yeah if I could just go back to the day when I bought my new 79 F150, I would walk into the dealer and tell them to order me up a 79 F350 XLT black with ALL the option's you can put on it!!

f250rangerexplorer,
Yes it does.

It did but now it can mean anything but that. When I got my 79 it barely ran and looked like Sh**. Now it runs great but still looks the same.
I want another truck so I can park the one I have time to park it and work on it.

I know of several people who had a 79 350. One I know still has his. You talk about rough riding. A 350 superduty has a cadillac type ride compared to a 79 350. One bad things about that 350 was the biggest engine was 400. But you could get a 460 in a 150. A guy I know did put a 460 in his. You could pull anything with that motor.

But you could get a 460 in a 150.

as long as that 150 was a 2WD, you could get a 460 in a 2WD F350 as well
