i have an 88 ford ranger v6 2.9L. Every year when you turn on the max ac leaves fall out of the intake, i have no idea where they come from. i dont park the thing in leaves, but i have alot of trees around my house. If anybody has any ideas please help.
The A/C system draws air in through the vent in the cowl, right ahead of the windshield. It isn't uncommon for junk to accumulate in there, although there is typically a screen that is supposed to keep large objects out of there. Since the cowl cover on a Ranger is part of the cab sheetmetal, I assume you probably have to pull the A/C-heater box out to clean this out.
Haha.... I have an 88' too, and after the fall I get a bunch of leaves on the passenger's floor board from the vent. When I flip the vent lever back and forth more will fall out untill it is empty.
i had the same problem with a 88 i had,,, i noticed on a 89 that they went from slits in cowl to holes,,,,on 88 i found a plastic gutter screen cut it to length and used plastic ties and put over slits in cowl helped a whole lot in elimating leaves in cab,, a side note if you get too much stuff and leaves in blower area it will stop up screen there and a/c and heat wont work right, making blower motor over heat,,, a buddy of mine seen how i had mine and he took off windsheild wiper motor and put his on inside of cowl, he said it was a pain but now no leaves and trash in cab,,,,, hope some help here
