A f-150 Super Crew 4x4 4.6L has a payload of 1360, and a max trailer of 6500 lbs.

This is for 05's , and assuming I was able to read the poorly setup dodge site.

Personally, I'd drive several of each and then decide, but I would go for the F-150, simply because I feel that the dodges are *fugly*, but that's my opinion.

Have you given any thought into getting into rigs fresh off of leases?

I'm also pretty sure that Ford is now offering some pretty good incentives on trucks.

Actually, I looked this up yesterday. This Dodge they are letting me testdrive today is a 4.7L Quad Cab 4x4 with 3.92 gears and 5-speed auto. It is rated to tow 7,000 lbs.

The F-150 was SuperCab 4x4 4.6L automatic with 3.55 gears and it was only rated to tow 6,000 lbs. or so. Even with the 3.73s, the tow rating is still MUCH lower on the Ford.

I've honestly given both trucks a fair chance. I've never owned a Dodge before (for a personal vehicle, we've got a 3500 Cummins for a work truck). I've owned 5 Fords (one was a Mustang GT). But in all honestly, my fiancee and I both agree that in 2004 Dodge has the best truck on the market right now. I think we've decided to go ahead and buy this one.

Don't shoot me. I promise I will NOT become a Ford basher just because I'm buying a Dodge. I still love Ford as a whole, but I just feel they really missed the mark with the new F-150.

My guess is if you drove the 150 for a few months and the Dodge the same number of months youd like the 150 better. Driving one for a day is not the true measure of a truck. A few months is much better test. Everybody I know just loves the truck. Cant say the same for the Dodge though. Hey Good Luck with your new Dodge. In a year get the 150. Hey I know youll be back in a Ford again.

If you go with a 4.6L and 3.73's it brings the trailer tow up to 6500lbs..*shrugs*.

Have you given any thought to going with the bigger motors in either truck?

I do know that the 4.6L in a Super crew *does* seem quite slow, especially pushing a 4wd, which is why I went with the 5.4L in my 02' (btw, has a max trailer rating of 7100lbs with 3.55's in a older and weaker truck, granted the bigger 2v 5.4L). I realized that I've talked about mpg before in other threads, but I was getting 16-17 on average before mods on my 2v 5.4L.

I would bet that if you tried the larger motors in either truck, especially the 3v 5.4L vs the 2v 4.6L, you may change your mind.

Believe me, I know all about trying to make the significant other happy, and saving some happiness for your self!

I'm surpised that you did'nt notice any difference between rear seating between the Dodge crew cab and a Supercrew, last time I looked my Supercrew had loads more room than my wifes, grandpa's, 04 dodge 3/4ton. crew cab.

Hey, all that counts is wether you are happy with your purchase, as you are the one signing the check!

Just my .2$ but I think the slope shape of the new doges are fugly, and made the durango look like a bloated mini van, but yeah if I was getting a crew cab 4x4 I would go with a 5.4 too just because it makes sense because of the extra weight, but I hope you found what fit your finance and needs.

Personally, even though I have an F-150 with the 4.6 and it does well, I would get the 5.4 if I bought a new one. I don't think I'll ever get the small V8 in a full-size again.

We just bought a 2004 supercrew Lariat with the 3v 5.4 and I love the truck. To each their own but I think ford hit another grand slam. I wasn't even looking for the truck and I sat in a Lariat with black leather and I was hooked. I do wish the motor was more peppy but that can always be fixed. I also have a 2003 F350 Lariat with the 6.0 diesel and since we got the f150 I've only driven the superduty a few times. Good Luck with the purchase. You can always trade it in later.

A month ago, I was in the same boat as WXBoy. I was trying to decide between the Ram and the F150. Interestingly, I had a lot of opposite opinions as WXBoy. For example, I thought the Dodge interior looked a lot cheaper than the F150 interior. I also thought the F150 drove better and looked to be of higher quality in general. This just shows you that everybody's viewpoint is different and we can look at the same two trucks and end up with opposite opinions. Of course, WXBoy's opinion is wrong, in this case.

I can't believe I just read this post. Someone like WXboy who had such strong opinions about the new F150 against the Ram, actually drove one and is going to buy it. Its funny because he decided to take the time and compare them through driving them for a bit and not going by what people on a forum say. 150Ford you still obviously haven't changed your biased views even when a die hard Ford lover will admit which truck he thinks is better you have to say that "after awhile you won't like it anymore because everyone I know likes Ford better." WXboy good luck on your decision, I'm glad you found a truck you enjoy and made the decision for yourself. Some people need to become as open minded as you.

I made that mistake once too. Bought a '97 f150 (new body style) with the 4.6. Stupid - Stupid. after talking with some people that had the 5.4 I found out they even got similiar gas milage.
